Lecornu mentioned in a conversation with France Info radio that this is a proposal they plan to present to European countries.

Lecornu highlighted that weapon reserves could be quickly supplied to Ukraine if needed, serving as a deterrent against Russia reigniting the conflict. He explained that having several months' worth of ammunition stockpiled strengthens this deterrence.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine's most substantial security assurance lies in its military. Lecornu further stated that the primary objective of the ongoing discussions is to ensure the Ukrainian army remains capable of defending itself, both in the present and after hostilities cease.

Discussions on resources

Lecornu also revealed that France, alongside the United States, has been in talks with Ukraine since October about access to certain Ukrainian resources.

He assured that the issue is not about compensating Ukraine for aid but about diversifying the sources of these resources, which may be needed in the future for French weapons systems.
