Sami Rakshit, head of the customs control department of Finland, conveyed in a conversation with the STT agency, to which kommersant.ru refers, that after 16 March, vehicles with Russian license plates will have to be exported from the country. However, the vehicles will need to be examined beforehand.

Customs officers will primarily need to check how long a given vehicle has been in Finland. However, details regarding the process of exporting Russian vehicles are not yet known. Rakshit also emphasized that no one will be specifically "chasing Russian cars" - we read.

Finland closes its eastern border

In response to the Kremlin's move, authorities in Helsinki at the end of November closed the entire border with Russia. The decision was supposed to last for two weeks.

After two weeks, in mid-December, Finland decided to keep the border closed except for the Vaalimaa and Niirala border crossings.

The Finns emphasized at that time that the opening of the two crossings - with an increased level of control - is aimed at, among other things, accommodating diplomats.
