This case has outraged the entirety of America. The ongoing trial of Christopher Gregor from New Jersey, charged with the murder of his 6-year-old son, is drawing significant attention. Christopher Gregor left his partner, Brenna Miccolo, while she was pregnant. The couple reunited when their son, Corey, was 4 years old. The boy's initial meeting with his father concerned the mother; her child returned with a split lip, which the father claimed was due to an accident on the playground.

The violence escalated over time. It was reported that the father routinely abused the boy, with the mother's attempts to intervene disregarded by social services and the court.

During the trial, gym surveillance footage was displayed, capturing Gregor accelerating the treadmill's speed and observing as the child falls and slides off. He repeatedly placed his son back on the treadmill, a method of punishment as testified by Breanna Micciolo.

Less than two weeks following the gym incident, on April 2, 2021, Corey woke up feeling nauseous, stumbled, and had unclear speech. Gregor rushed the unconscious boy to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A forensic expert determined that Corey's death was due to regular abuse, with blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen identified as the direct cause. However, Gregor’s attorneys argue the six-year-old succumbed to pneumonia. At 31, Christopher Gregor could be facing a life sentence.
