Failed Trump assassination, Stoltenberg: "I am shocked"
"I am shocked by the attempted assassination on former President Trump. I wish him a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with those affected," wrote NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the X platform on Sunday. The Alliance's Secretary General referred to the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
"I condemn this attack. Political violence has no place in our democracies. NATO Allies stand together to defend our freedom & values," commented Jens Stoltenberg. Former US President was shot in the ear during an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Two people were killed, including the attacker, and two others were seriously injured.
The assassination attempt on the former president occurred a few minutes after the speech began in Butler, about 50 kilometers from Pittsburgh. Shortly after two gunshots were heard, the former president fell to the ground, clutching his ear, and was then covered by Secret Service agents protecting him.
With a bloodied face and ear, Trump stood up under his power, waving his fist at the crowd, to which the crowd responded by chanting "USA!". Moments after Trump's fall, a series of gunshots were heard from the authorities. Trump's spokesman, Steven Cheung, reported that the former president was unharmed.
