Explosion and massive fire at Uralmash plant in Yekaterinburg

On Monday, the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations reported about a large fire that broke out at a factory in Yekaterinburg in the Urals. The fire covered approximately 4,500 square meters, and 300 square meters of the roof collapsed, with clouds of dark smoke visible above the city.

As reported by Reuters, the fire started at the Uralmash plant. Russian state media, citing the factory's owner, say that the burning facility is not owned by the company but is located on its premises.

Witnesses reported that something exploded at the plant first, followed by the emergence of black smoke, as reported by "Nexta" on the X platform.

The Telegram channel Shot reported that the fire erupted in a facility containing about 500 litres of paint.

As per Reuters, Uralmash is known for producing equipment for mining, metal processing, the cement industry, and energy facilities, including nuclear power plants.
