Heather Pressdee pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and 19 counts of attempted murder, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office. Her lawyer, Phillip DiLucente, mentioned his client pleaded guilty to avoiding the death penalty.
"Will never cause harm again"
The former nurse will not be eligible for parole. "The defendant exploited the trust she had built with her patients to poison those who were dependent on her," stated Attorney General Michelle Henry, as quoted by CNN.
"This life sentence may not bring back the lost lives, but it ensures that Heather Pressdee will never have the chance to cause harm again," emphasized Henry.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Pressdee intentionally administered lethal doses of insulin to patients in five care facilities in Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, and Westmoreland counties between 2020 and 2023. The Attorney General's office reported that some patients did not require insulin.
