Eva Longoria quits LA for Mexico and Spain: 'Dystopian USA'
Eva Longoria revealed in an interview with "Marie Claire" magazine that, together with her husband José Bastón and their six-year-old son Santiago, she has left the United States, which she described as "dystopian," and currently resides in Mexico and Spain.
Eva Longoria, an actress renowned for her role in the series "Desperate Housewives," admitted that the American chapter of her life is now closed. Alongside her husband, Mexican producer José Bastón, she is working on the CNN miniseries "Searching for Spain," a continuation of last year's "Searching for Mexico."
In her conversation with "Marie Claire," Longoria expressed concerns about the future of the United States, especially if Donald Trump wins the 2024 elections. "If he keeps his promises, it's going to be a scary place," warned the actress, who actively supported Kamala Harris’s campaign.
Longoria emphasised that she no longer wishes to live in Los Angeles because the city has changed significantly. "I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them," she confessed.
Milestone birthdays and future plans
Longoria gave an interview alongside her friend, George Clooney, a well-known actor and political activist. The star could not praise Eva enough. "Talent doesn't sustain you in this business. It requires hard work, determination, and brass balls. We know countless stars who flamed out. The reason she’s still so relevant is because she won’t take no for an answer."
Longoria, who recently appeared in the series "Only Murders in the Building" and "Land of Women" on Apple TV+, also spoke about her upcoming 50th birthday. "For me, age is just a number, but I'm excited. I refuse to believe my greatest success is behind me," she admitted.
The actress also addressed the challenges faced by women in the entertainment industry. "I show up on time, I am prepared. Our industry is known for men continuing to rise after failures. That’s great, but I don’t get a second chance. For me, the best position is being underestimated, because then I can always exceed expectations," she stated.
