The world's attention is fixated on the Middle East as tensions escalate following Iran's threat to attack Israel. American intelligence has noted alarming military manoeuvres by Iran, suggesting preparations for an assault.

Sources referenced by CNN reveal that Iran is deploying "internal military resources," including drones and approximately a hundred cruise missiles. This activity suggests Iran is gearing up to target Israeli interests from within its borders.

Whether these preparations aim at an initial strike or defence against an anticipated Israeli retaliation remains uncertain.

CNN has reported concerns within the United States over a potential Iranian offensive against numerous sites in Israel and related targets across the region.

An anonymous American official has indicated that groups endorsing Iran's hostile stance towards Israel could participate in the countermeasures.

CNN highlights that direct conflict between Iran and Israel would markedly intensify Middle Eastern tensions.

Iran's threats follow an Israeli consulate attack

The threats from Tehran emerged after Israel launched an attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, last week. The assault resulted in the death of seven Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members, including two generals pivotal to Iran's overseas military engagements.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has vowed retaliation against Israel. "Our brave men will punish the malicious regime. We will make sure that they repent for this and similar crimes, God willing," - he proclaimed.
