In stores, we often try on different clothes. Sometimes, we wear jackets or sweaters, and other times, we try on trousers, bras, or tight blouses. We don't want anyone to see us at such a moment. Therefore, it is worth knowing a few rules that will help ensure our privacy remains intact.

During sales, which usually take place in January and June, we often encounter crowds. We spend a lot of time in stores trying to find the styles that interest us. We try on clothes to avoid returning them and making another trip to the store if they don't fit.

However, during this shopping frenzy, we often don't pay attention to the condition of the fitting room we use, which can be a mistake if we want to protect our privacy. In such frequently used places, it can be easily compromised.

The curtains in the fitting room should be our first concern. They provide us with essential intimacy. They should be tightly closed so that the material covers all the edges of the curtain rods. If the curtain is too narrow, it's worth standing on the side of the covered fitting room.

Notably, many modern clothing stores already have doors. This solution provides us with much greater privacy than traditional curtains.

This is how you check if someone is watching you in the fitting room

It's also worth checking the mirrors in the fitting room. Although they mainly serve us, they often also provide a perspective for others to see what's happening inside. They can reflect the interior image, allowing others to pass by or wait nearby to watch us without our knowledge.

In large chain stores, such situations are rare as the risk of losing reputation and potential penalties are too high. However, the problem is entirely different in smaller boutiques. In them, you have to be aware of something called one-way mirrors.

Mirror or one-way glass? This is how you find out

A one-way glass is a mirror that allows viewing from the other side, although we believe it's just a regular mirror. How to check it? It's effortless. Just place your finger against the mirror's surface. If there is a gap between your finger and the reflection, it is a mirror. If they touch directly, it's a one-way glass.

Another method to recognize one-way glass is to use a torch or camera. These tools are found in practically every modern smartphone. The torch's light directed at a real mirror will reflect off it. In the case of one-way glass, the light will show the interior behind the glass. On the other hand, a phone camera pointed at the glass should reflect the fitting room's interior. A lack of reflection indicates one-way glass.

By following these tips, we can effectively protect our privacy while shopping. Privacy is often more important than bargain prices on clothes that interest us.
