Endgame whispers: Russian propaganda hints at war's closure
According to YouTuber Vyacheslav Zauresky, Russians are being prepared for the end of the war. In his video, he presented a propaganda film that aims to explain negotiations and a possible ceasefire to the public.
Following Donald Trump's inauguration as President of the United States, there has been an increase in discussions surrounding a ceasefire. The US leader mentioned in a media interaction that Putin indicated to him during a conversation that he wishes to bring the war to an end. If this were not the case, Trump would certainly be aware of it. Representatives from Russia and America have already convened to initiate peace talks, and a meeting between Trump and Putin in Saudi Arabia appears imminent.
Vyacheslav Zauresky, a Russian currently residing in Poland, closely monitors the media and events in his homeland. "Russians are preparing people for the end of the war," he stated. It remains uncertain whether this will culminate in victory or defeat, but thus far, primarily soldiers have been instructed to liberate Ukraine and fight until the end. Discussions have occurred regarding demilitarisation and denazification. However, Ukraine continues to resist, and no one wishes to speak Russian, Zauresky clarifies in his film.
He stated that in propaganda films on television, viewers frequently saw soldiers altering Ukrainian place names to Russian ones, as exemplified by Avdiivka. Typically, Russians also learned that such efforts remained inadequate.
People witnessed this daily. On 23rd February, Defender of the Fatherland Day, a patriotic film was expected, but they received something entirely different. Zauresky explained that this is the first such signal, perhaps not directly stating it but preparing for the war's end.
In the film, we observe an elderly couple discussing the war. The man questions Ukraine's existence, pointing out that even capturing a small village takes months, which raises uncertainty about how long the overall effort might endure. He refers to nuclear missiles that could bring the war to a swift conclusion. Ultimately, images from the front show two wounded soldiers, both depicted as suffering and yearning for their families.
Many, including soldiers, initially believed Ukrainians were responsible, but that is incorrect. The individuals featured in the film were later identified as Russian actors. The origin of the recording remains unclear, but if its creator is unknown, it was likely produced by the authorities, according to Zauresky.
