Billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and the social media platform X, and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump were scheduled to speak at 1:00 AM on Tuesday, Greenwich Time.
The conversation began after a delay of more than 40 minutes, and Musk announced that there had been a "massive DDOS attack". The platform's owner suggested that the attack "illustrates there’s a lot of opposition to people just hearing what President Trump has to say."
The event was organised as a group voice chat. Several minutes before the scheduled start, users began reporting problems with joining the group.
In posts on platform X, Musk assured that the chat had been prepared for participation by up to 8 million users. However, when the technical issues occurred, only 220,000 viewers were attempting to join.
