In the autumn and winter, spiders seek safe shelter from frost and rain. They enter homes through windows and ventilation grilles. Although it is not always easy to effectively deter them, it doesn't require buying specialised products. There are several simple and proven (and cheap) methods to get rid of them ecologically. If you don't know these methods, it's a good time to learn before the upcoming cold weather.
How to deter spiders in the autumn?
Spiders appear in greater numbers in homes in the autumn when their mating season begins. They stay until it gets warm. However, you can prevent this by using tried and tested methods that deter them.
The first and very cheap method is using bicarbonate of soda. Bicarbonate of soda is available in every grocery shop, so there will definitely be no problem buying it. You just need to sprinkle bicarbonate of soda in places where spiders appear most often and on windowsills, so they don't come in through the windows. This will ensure that these small arachnids don't even come close.
Another equally simple trick is using vinegar and water. Mix one cup of white vinegar with two cups of water. Spray the resulting liquid in places where spiders appear. This should also keep them away.
This is how you get rid of spiders from your home
Bicarbonate of soda and the vinegar-water mix are not all. Fans of essential oils, such as lavender, peppermint, citrus, or tea tree oil, can also use them in the fight against spiders. Add seven drops of a given oil to 500 ml of water. Then combine it with one teaspoon of washing-up liquid and pour it into a spray bottle. Shake the bottle. Spray all windowsills, corners, and crevices in the house.
