The cabin crew of EasyJet in Portugal have announced a three-day strike, potentially disrupting the holiday plans of thousands of people intending to visit the country. The company has already cancelled 164 out of 308 flights. The protest is scheduled to take place on August 15th, 16th, and 17th, 2024.

According to union representatives, the protests planned for August 15th, 16th, and 17th could lead to serious travel chaos in passenger aviation throughout Portugal.

The Portuguese Union of Civil Aviation Personnel (SNPVAC) reported that "EasyJet has already cancelled 164 out of 308 flights" to or from Portugal scheduled between 15th and 17th August.

They want improved working conditions

The union specified that the strike would affect all EasyJet flights scheduled over the three days of the protest, whether from airports in Portugal or those heading to the country.

They added that one reason for the strike is the airline's ongoing disregard for the demands of cabin crew staff over a prolonged period.

Among the main demands driving the strike by Portuguese EasyJet employees are improved working conditions and increased cabin crew. They also claim they receive evasive answers from the airline's management.

The SNPVAC leadership stated that admitting one's own fault is hard. Still, the company's explanation that the problem is solely due to external factors is not an answer, adding that pilots from the Portuguese branch of EasyJet intend to join the August cabin crew strike.
