Cake with dulce de leche – how to make it at home?

If you're pressed for time, you can buy a ready-made tin from the shop. Those with a bit more time can make dulce de leche at home. It’s simple, though it does require some patience.

To make dulce de leche from scratch, you only need a few basic ingredients. You'll need just under a litre of whole milk, around 300 grams of sugar, and 100 grams of butter. Heat the milk with the sugar and butter in a saucepan, stirring constantly. The cooking process can take around 2 hours. When the mixture thickens and turns golden brown, it's ready. Remember to keep stirring to prevent burning.

How to make toasted almond flakes?

To prepare toasted almond flakes, which add a touch of elegance to the cake, it only takes a few minutes. Begin by heating a dry frying pan over medium heat. Then scatter about 50 grams of almond flakes over it. Gently toss the flakes until they attain a golden colour with a pleasant nutty aroma. The toasting process takes about 3-5 minutes. It's vital to watch the flakes closely and stir occasionally to avoid burning.
