According to the "Los Angeles Times," the tremors were felt across a large area of Southern California.
Los Angeles was the epicentre of the 4.7-magnitude tremors, which occurred near the Highland Park neighbourhood, a few miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
Everything was captured on cameras
In one of the recordings that have appeared online, the moment of the earthquake is captured during a live broadcast.
In another recording, a train is seen braking sharply during the tremor.
Authorities warn residents
Although there are no reports of casualties or significant damage, all services have been dispatched to check the tremors' effects.
The Los Angeles Police Department warns residents to "be prepared for aftershocks" following the "significant" earthquake.
According to Cal Tech officials, the probability of an aftershock with a magnitude of 5.0 or higher within the next week is less than 10 per cent.
According to U.S. Geological Survey data, Monday's earthquake was preceded by foreshocks in the last 24 hours - with magnitudes of 1.7 and 1.3.
