The fire erupted overnight from Saturday to Sunday following an attack by Ukrainian drones – announced early Sunday morning by Reuters, citing local authorities.

According to a message published on Telegram, the drones were "neutralized," but one falling drone sparked a blaze, quickly brought under control.

One refinery worker lost his life due to a heart attack. Online, images capturing the fire and rising smoke clouds are being shared.

Further impacts on Russian industry

In recent months, Ukraine has stepped up strikes on economic sites within Russia. Several refineries, particularly in Russia's western regions, have been targeted. Overnight from 14th to 15th March, drones hit a refinery in the Kaluga region, igniting a significant fire.

Russians are beginning to feel the ripple effects of these strikes. Gasoline prices have seen an increase, and its production has reportedly dropped by around 7 to 8 percent, according to experts.
