On Monday, while playing with relatives, the boy was knocked to the ground by the aggressive animal, which bit his arm, leaving deep wounds.
The Sun reports that the incident occurred when the dog’s owners, playing with their pet, accidentally threw a stick towards Abdul. Consequently, the dog lunged at the boy, pinning him to the ground and attacking his hands and arms.
Eventually, a woman, likely the dog’s owner, pulled the dog away from Abdul, allowing the boy to avoid further injuries.
Currently, Abdul is in hospital undergoing treatment. His father, Nadeem Akhtar, says that his son is very upset about the event often cries and avoids leaving the house, which understandably causes concern for his family.
Greater Manchester Police are investigating and endeavouring to locate the dog and its owners. A spokesperson assures that officers spoke with Abdul at the hospital the same day, and the case is being treated as a priority.
Attack in the park. "There was blood everywhere"
The father of the attacked boy said that at the time of the attack, "there was blood everywhere."
It was awful, my son was shaking with fear because he had to fight with the dog. He had an operation on Wednesday, he's still in the hospital - he emphasised.
He also noted that he is worried about the safety of other children who visit the park.
A lot of kids play in that park, so I'm worried it could happen again. I don't want other people's kids to be shaking and crying after being attacked - he concluded.
