Disturbance at Soviet soldiers Mausoleum mars Victory Day rites
On Thursday morning, on the steps of the Cemetery Mausoleum of Soviet Soldiers, one could witness a disturbing scene as unidentified individuals spilt blood and scattered bones. This unsettling act occurred just before noon on 9 May, Victory Day, when it is customary for the Russian ambassador to lay flowers at the obelisk.
"Euromaidan Warsaw" activists had planned a protest for the same day. The aim was to confront the Russian ambassador with the consequences of Russia's actions in Ukraine. Specifically, the protest featured Ukrainian women in white gowns bearing the names of fallen soldiers and cities that have been destroyed or occupied. This poignant display also included wives mourning their husbands who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine's freedom.
Last year, Andreev was barred from entering the cemetery
Before the ambassador could reach the cemetery, mock-ups representing bombed buildings from cities like Bakhmut, Mariupol, Bucha, Kherson, and Irpin were displayed. Additionally, symbolic graves for murdered Ukrainians, smeared with red paint to symbolize blood, were placed prominently. The sound of alarm sirens further intensified the atmosphere, and bombings played through a loudspeaker.
