Dishwashing sponges: Why colour matters more than you think
A dishwashing sponge is an item typically found in every household. However, during shopping, we often grab the first one we see, convinced that they are all the same and will fulfil their basic task.

Dishwashing sponges come in different colours, and each of them has a different application. Unfortunately, we often overlook this aspect, which can lead to the damage of dishes.
Several colours. Each one matters
The colour scheme of dishwashing sponges varies, and each colour corresponds to a different type of washing - intensive or delicate. The green sponge, the stiffest available, effectively removes strong stains, but it must be used carefully as it can scratch delicate surfaces.
Next in the hardness hierarchy is the red sponge. It is gentler on dishes than the green one and less likely to scratch surfaces. However, even gentler sponges are recommended for glasses and porcelain.
In such a case, yellow and blue dishwashing sponges are the best. The yellow sponge is excellent for glasses and wine glasses, while the blue one, considered the gentlest of all, is great for porcelain and - importantly - pans and baking dishes. It often happens that these items are scrubbed vigorously, leading to the destruction of their surfaces. Unfortunately, this shortens their lifespan.
