Devastating assault on Ukraine by Russia costs Federation $471 million: Regions across Kyiv struck

"Once again, there was a massive assault on our nation. The adversaries targeted six regions. All our services are now dealing with the aftermath of this terror," wrote Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in the wake of the assault.

Skyscraper struck by a missile

He stated that in Mykolaiv, a missile damaged a gas pipeline and claimed one life. Dozens of residential structures were leveled.

In Kyiv, a missile hit an 18-storey building. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that four individuals lost their lives, and more than 30 got injured. Rescue efforts are still in progress at the scene, and it is believed that more survivors could be beneath the rubble.

Two people were hurt in the Kharkiv region. In the Lviv region, rescue teams are at the scene where a missile dropped in Drohobych, 50 kilometres (rounding 31 miles to the nearest whole number) from the border with Poland.

According to the Ukrainian Air Forces the Russians launched:

  • 20 "Shahed-136/131" combat drones;
  • 29 manoeuvring missiles Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55;
  • four Kh-22 manoeuvring missiles;
  • three Kalibr manoeuvring missiles;
  • three Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
  • five S-300 guided anti-aircraft missiles.

Major bombardment of Ukraine

Ukrainska Pravda estimates the cost of 20 Shahed drones at around $3.9 million to the Russian Federation. The cost of a Kh-22 missile is projected to be $1 million, resulting in a total missile cost of $4 million.

Each Kh-101 missile costs $13 million, amounting to $377 million. The S-300 guided anti-aircraft missile price tag is at least $2 million, making for a total expenditure of $10 million.

Defence Express reports put the cost of one Kalibr missile at around $6.5 million (total of $19.5 million). A ballistic rocket Iskander-M may cost $3 million, so the overall cost of firing this type of missile was $9 million.
