Debate showdown: Trump and Harris set for ABC face-off on Sept 10
For several days, the campaign teams of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have been disputing the date and location of the presidential debate. Now, everything is clear. The details have been released.
Planned election debate between Trump and Harris on ABC
The ABC television network announced on Thursday that the election debate with Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will occur on 10 September. The former president had previously announced on social media that he did not plan to participate in a debate organized by ABC.
Trump announced that he would prefer the debate to be sponsored and conducted by the conservative television network Fox News. However, he began to change his stance on Wednesday.
In early August, the former president stated that the debate with Kamala Harris should occur on 4 September or "not at all." He also mentioned that he had agreed on this debate date with the Democratic candidate on Fox News.
However, Harris's campaign team insisted on organising the debate on 10 September on ABC television. The Vice President accused Trump of trying to back out of the original agreement concerning the debate on ABC.
The debate scheduled for 10 September was supposed to be the second clash between Trump and President Joe Biden. However, Biden announced that he would not seek re-election.
