- Security forces killed at least 20 Venezuelan opposition members under President Nicolás Maduro during protests that swept the country after the announcement of the presidential election results on Monday.
- US President Joe Biden, in a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, confirmed his support for Israel in defence against Iran and discussed US military assistance, including the deployment of new US forces to assist Israel.
- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Joe Biden, accused Israel of attempting to spread the war in the Gaza Strip to a larger area - Reuters reported.
- Seven to ten people were killed in Nigeria on the first day of protests "against bad governance" when police used live ammunition and tear gas against demonstrators, Nigerian media reported.
- Argentine services to use AI to predict crimes - reported the Spanish newspaper "El País" on Thursday. A specialised unit will have tools utilising artificial intelligence and drones to maintain order on the internet and beyond.
