Nonetheless, Jakovenko emphasises that in the wake of Navalny's death, these individuals are exposed to substantial risk. So, who appears on the list?
'Aside from Navalny, whom Putin views as his nemesis, Volodymyr Kara-Murza is undoubtedly an enemy,' stated the Channel 24 representative. Kara-Murza is a former journalist and one of the leaders of the Russian opposition. The 41-year-old holds both Russian and British passports. A Moscow court sentenced him to a 25-year sentence in prison in 2023.
Justice took notice of him following his critique of Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Authorities detained Kara-Murza within hours following the broadcast of a programme where he voiced on camera for CNN, claiming Russia is 'governed by a regime of murderers'.
Putin 'detests' Kara-Murza
Jakovenko believes that Putin palpably 'detests' the 41-year-old oppositionist.
According to the journalist, Putin's list of enemies simultaneously includes the former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, and another Russian oppositionist, Ilya Yashin, alongside former councilman Alexei Gorinov. Gorinov also 'ventured' to condemn the war in Ukraine and was subjected to a seven-year prison sentence.
