A few days before the start of the European Championships in Germany, the Czech national team suffered a setback due to an injury sustained by Michal Sadilek. The 25-year-old midfielder got injured, but not on the pitch—rather while riding a bike.

In the coming days, all national teams will check in in Germany to prepare for their first matches at the Euros. One of the participants in the championships will be the Czech national team. Our neighbors will arrive with a weakened squad.

Sadilek has been ruled out of the Euros due to an injury. There would be nothing intriguing about this, except for the unusual way in which the 25-year-old was injured.

On Friday, 7th June, our neighbors played a friendly match against the Maltese national team. The match ended with a 7-1 victory for the Czechs, and Sadilek played 64 minutes. The unfortunate events, however, occurred the day after this encounter.

According to the Czech sports association, the midfielder fell while riding his bike and suffered a laceration in the calf area. This injury has ruled him out of the trip to the tournament in Germany, which has now been officially confirmed.

- This is a significant setback for us, as Michal is one of our most experienced players. He was the captain in the match against Malta. On behalf of the entire team, I wish him a speedy recovery - said the Czech national team coach, Ivan Hasek.

So far, the coaching staff has not announced whether another player will be called up to replace the injured footballer. A decision is expected to be made soon.

Let us recall that Sadilek, as one of the seven players called up to the Czech squad, had experience in playing in major tournaments. He has appeared in 24 matches for the national team. The FC Twente midfielder represented his country during Euro 2020.

The Czechs were placed in Group F of the German championships. Their opponents will be Portugal, Georgia, and Turkey.
