Collision at Seattle airport raises fresh aviation concerns
Two planes, belonging to Delta Airlines and Japan Airlines, collided at Seattle airport. Fortunately, no one was injured. This incident is another in a series of recent aviation events, raising concerns among travellers.
On Wednesday, 5th February, at Seattle-Tacoma airport, two planes collided. The Japan Airlines aircraft struck the tail of a Delta Airlines plane, causing significant damage. There were 142 passengers on the Delta flight, who needed to disembark and return to the terminal.
As reported by newsbreak.com, despite the severity of the incident, operations at the airport were not significantly disrupted. Seattle-Tacoma airport advised passengers to contact their airlines to rebook their flights. Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene.
One of the Delta passengers, Jason Chan, described the collision as "surreal". Despite the unexpected situation, passengers remained calm and were transported back to the terminal. Another passenger shared a video on platform X, showcasing the damage to the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has initiated an investigation into the collision. According to preliminary information, the aircraft were in an area not under air traffic control jurisdiction. The FAA temporarily suspended some flights to Seattle.
This collision is yet another aviation incident that is heightening concerns among travellers. Recently, a tragic accident in Washington resulted in 67 fatalities. Passengers are voicing their worries on social media, questioning the safety of air travel.
Impact on the aviation industry
Experts emphasise that while such events are infrequent, their recent frequency might affect passengers' confidence in air travel. The FAA and other agencies will need to conduct a thorough analysis of the causes behind these accidents.
