A cat named Luna was on board the plane that was supposed to fly from Rome to Catania. The pet's unusual movements and restless behaviour drew the attention of other passengers and the cabin crew. It turned out that the cat was trying to inform them about a shocking discovery.

On the Italian airline plane, Luna the cat was legally in a carrier, but a passenger smuggled an iguana illegally. According to the daily "Corriere della Sera," the cat sensed the presence of the "exotic companion," hidden by the passenger under a red blouse.

The cat thwarted the illegal endeavour

A peculiar ally for the iguana smuggled by one of the passengers was a large plush toy - a monkey that the young woman held on her lap to hide the live animal under her clothing.

However, the cat's unusual movements and restless, even aggressive behaviour caught the attention of her owners, other passengers, and the crew. At that moment, they began to observe the suspicious passenger, and then a large lizard appeared before everyone's eyes.

After this discovery, the woman's journey with the iguana quickly ended. At the Roman airport, the police immediately intervened and escorted the reptile's owner off the plane.

Many questions

The Italian press emphasised that the cat proved to be more effective than the most modern security systems, ranging from those in the USA to those in Italy. It turns out that the woman flew to the Eternal City from Los Angeles. The big mystery is how it was possible for the iguana to be smuggled and not detected by any of the devices.

The case is currently being investigated to provide answers to all the questions. The tourist can expect to be fined. "In contrast, the cat deserves a reward, at least a treat" - reads the Italian newspaper.
