Moments of terror were experienced by the Cadiz FC players, who were on a plane heading to El Salvador. This was due to an engine failure, necessitating an emergency landing.

The drama unfolded on Monday (27 May) in the evening. The Cadiz FC team was on their way to El Salvador to play a friendly match in honour of former player Jorge Gonzalez. However, the game had to be postponed.

The EuroAtlantic Airways plane, which was supposed to take the players across the Atlantic, was scheduled to depart from Jerez Airport in southwestern Spain on Monday morning. However, the flight was delayed, and according to the revised plan, it was supposed to take off around 8:00 PM GMT.

An engine failure occurred when it finally seemed that the plane with the players would take off for El Salvador. The flight captain decided to make an emergency landing at Seville Airport. Although it was a frightening experience, no injuries were reported. The club's spokesperson and president, Manuel Vizcaino, shared detailed information on this matter.

The situation was serious

- The Cadiz FC expedition had to make an emergency landing a few minutes ago at Seville Airport after a mechanical failure on the plane to El Salvador - said the spokesperson. - The players were in shock; it was scary, - the club president concurred, as quoted by "The Sun" portal.

The club spokesperson added, "Given the circumstances and the airline being unable to find a solution, the trip to El Salvador has been cancelled." The friendly match may be held at a later date.

- The situation is what is is and we have to return to Cadiz but we are keen to look for dates when we can be with our Salvadoran friends - said Manuel Vizcaino.

Let's recall that Cadiz FC's 2023/2024 season in the Primera Division did not go well. The team finished in 18th place in the table, which meant relegation from the top league. The team was five points short of a safe position that would have avoided relegation.
