Bisphenol A: Why disposing of rice bags incorrectly harms health
If we want to protect the environment, waste segregation is an absolute must. However, it is not a trivial task. Intuitively, it might seem that a rice or grain bag should go into the plastic bin. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Where to throw away a rice bag?
The issue is not trivial because there are many traps. The biggest problem usually occurs with the segregation of kitchen waste, such as packaging from food products, which often consists of many different materials.
But it might seem clear with rice or grain bags. Many people classify them as plastics without a second thought, but it turns out that's a mistake.
It's worth noting that the bags in which rice or grain is packed are made of plastic containing a chemical compound called bisphenol A. Bisphenol A is also a component of metal tins, plastic bottles, and electronic devices. For this reason, empty bags should be thrown into mixed waste containers.
Harmful substance in rice bags
Additionally, it is worth knowing about bisphenol A and treating it seriously, as the latest research data shows that the presence of this chemical substance significantly exceeds acceptable safety levels for health.
It may negatively impact the immune and hormonal systems, cause skin allergies, and even reduce fertility. The European Union is already working on this issue. Meanwhile, it is better to pour the rice directly into the pot and not cook it in plastic.
