Ukrainians continue their offensive in the Kursk region of Russia. The matter was addressed during a press conference by the Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson, Sabrina Singh. Singh emphasised that Washington remains in constant contact with Kyiv and that the Pentagon "still has some questions" about the attack near Kursk.
As she mentioned, the Pentagon is primarily interested in how the attacks on Russian territory "fit into Ukraine's strategic goals".
- When it comes to Kursk, we have an understanding from what President Zelenskyy laid out that they want to create a buffer zone. We are still working on with Ukraine on how that fits into their strategic objectives on the battlefield itself. When we feel confident that we have a better understanding of how that all knits together, you know, I'm happy to read out more - stated Singh.
Asked why the Pentagon does not officially support the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region, the spokesperson replied that the USA "supports Ukraine in a broad sense".

Singh reminded that the United States allowed Ukraine, among other things, to use American weapons to repel Russian attacks carried out from border areas.
- And that border region does include Kursk (…), so she explained that they are defending against Russian attacks from that region.
