The first match of Euro 2024 will begin today (14.06) at 20:00 GMT. In Munich, Germany will play against Scotland. The hosts of the event have organized special fan zones throughout the country.

Unfortunately, the first incident has already occurred. According to Bild, authorities in Berlin evacuated fans and closed the fan zone due to a suspicious backpack found at the event site. Fans are not being allowed inside. Details of the incident are still being determined.

Sappers, sniffer dogs, and other services are working at the scene. Bild reports that officers have detained a man who might own the suspicious backpack and are interrogating him. Authorities have not disclosed details regarding the suspect's identity.

German media reported that the backpack was found right at the entrance to the zone.

Beate Ostertag, a spokeswoman for the Berlin police stated that for security reasons, a restricted area has been created at the Berlin fan zone. The luggage is currently being checked. It may also be possible that someone left it before entering the venue because it is larger than the permissible standards.
