The number of victims who died under the rubble of a collapsed stairwell in one of the residential blocks in Belgorod, Russia, has increased. The Russians claim that part of the building collapsed as a result of a Ukrainian attack.

Many reports provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the informational warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

According to the latest information provided by Ria Novosti, a total of 9 bodies were recovered from the rubble. 20 people, including two children — a one-and-a-half-month-old baby and a 16-year-old boy — were reported to have been injured.

The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, immediately accused Ukraine. He stated that the cause of the entire stairwell of the 10-story building collapsing was a direct hit by a missile.

However, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that it was not a missile that hit the building, but its fragments. The air defense forces had previously shot down a Ukrainian Tochka-U missile.

Social networks were flooded with photos and recordings capturing the moment of impact.

Russians bombard their own cities

Recently, British military intelligence described how, on May 4, a Russian plane accidentally dropped an FAB-500 bomb on a residential area of Belgorod. The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, confirmed the explosion and damage on Razdobarkina Street but... without giving the cause of this incident. As a result of the explosion, around 30 houses and 10 cars were damaged, and five people required hospital care, which illustrates the destructive power of this bomb - noted the British department.

Such events indicate that Russia is still not capable of effectively using its bombs to hit intended targets. These kinds of mistakes have destructive and deadly consequences for the Russian population.

In October 2022, a Su-34 plane crashed into a residential building in Yeysk. The cause of the disaster was said to be an engine fire shortly after takeoff. The pilots managed to eject.

In this disaster, 13 people died, and 19 were injured.
