The inside is delicate, while the outside is delightfully crunchy. Hazelnut Cake is my plan for this year's family gatherings, as well as a great idea for a sweet Sunday treat to accompany your afternoon coffee. The preparation method is so straightforward you won't believe it. Besides the nuts, the cake contains one more specific, perfectly chosen ingredient — bananas.

Simple cake with nuts

If you're looking for a simple yet wonderfully tasty cake, the hazelnut cake is the perfect choice. Whether you have little experience in baking and want to give it a try or you feel completely at home in confectionery, this recipe is a must. It serves as a charming reminder of the noble culinary principle that sometimes less is more.

I haven't yet mentioned the concise nature of this recipe. Just a few ingredients but so much joy! It's genuinely worth it. I highly recommend it and invite you to follow the recipe below.

Hazelnut Cake

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas,
  • about 225 grams of hazelnuts,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 340 grams of plain flour,
  • 100 grams of butter,
  • 140 grams of sugar,
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder,
  • 1 package of vanilla sugar.

Preparation Method:

  1. Crack the eggs and mix them with the vanilla sugar and half of the white sugar.
  2. Peel the bananas, cut them into smaller pieces, and add to the mixture.
  3. Mix again. Reduce the speed and gradually add the flour. Finally, mix in the baking powder.
  4. Chop the nuts, but not too finely.
  5. In a pan, heat the butter, add the sugar, and stir until the mixture caramelises. Now add the chopped hazelnuts. Keep the mixture on the pan a while longer, then remove it from the heat.
  6. Line a baking tin with parchment paper. Pour half of the prepared batter into it. Then add a "layer" of caramelised nuts, followed by more batter and nuts once more.
  7. Place the tin in the oven, preheated to 180°C, and bake for about 40 minutes. The hazelnut cake will be ready after this time. Enjoy!
