In 2002, Avril Lavigne released her debut album "Let Go", which featured hits such as "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", and "I'm with You". Throughout her career, she has sold over 90 million records worldwide.
While promoting her upcoming greatest hits album, the Canadian singer appeared in an episode of the podcast "Call Her Daddy". Host Alexandra Cooper inquired, among other things, about the longstanding rumors concerning her.
Conspiracy theory about Lavigne
Following her fantastic debut, a surprising conspiracy theory emerged among Avril Lavigne's fans. It suggested that the young singer died in 2003, and the record label, noting her popularity, decided to replace her with a look-alike - Melissa Vandella.
Many "evidences" can be found online, spread by enthusiasts of such theories who eagerly analyze every photo of the singer, claiming she hardly changes at all. Her behavior and even handwriting were also scrutinised.
Lavigne addresses rumors about herself
In the recent interview, Lavigne was asked about the craziest rumor she has heard about herself. The singer specifically addressed the one suggesting she has been dead since 2003.
"To me, it's just funny. On one hand, everyone says, 'You look exactly the same. You haven't aged a day.' Then others suggest that I'm not myself. Honestly, it's not that bad. It could be worse, right?" she admitted with a laugh.
She added that such suggestions do not bother her. "Of course, I'm myself. It's so stupid," she stated.
