Anne Hathaway confronts the "disgusting" auditions of her early career

Her acting journey as a teenager in the series "Get Real" and the film "The Princess Diaries". Now, she stands as a towering figure in Hollywood, adorned with an Oscar, and holds the clout to be selective with her roles. However, before reaching this pinnacle, she consented to participate in what she described as "disgusting" auditions.
In promotion of her new movie, The Idea of You, a 41-year-old gave an interview in which she reminisced about the beginnings of her career. The methods used to choose cast actors were then "normal."

Test for "chemistry"
In a conversation with "V Magazine", Anna Hathaway described what auditions were like two decades ago. At that time, actors had to kiss during the auditions to check for chemistry between them. Hathaway said she went through that, too, and believes it's the worst way to check for chemistry. But back then, it was the norm at auditions.
"I was told, 'We have 10 guys coming today and you're cast. Aren't you excited to make out with all of them?'. And I thought to myself: 'Is there something wrong with me?' because I wasn't excited." the actress confessed.

On May 2, the latest movie featuring her, a romantic comedy, "The Idea of You," will premiere on Prime Video. The script is based on a novel with the same title and tells the story of 40-year-old Solène Marchand, a divorcee and mother of a teenage daughter, Isabelle. When the daughter fulfils her biggest dream – going to a concert of her favourite band and meeting the musicians – Solène does not expect that this night will also change her life.
