Issues of courts seizing money, cars, and other assets from suspects have always sparked controversy. Proponents of this solution believe it is a form of preventing a person from a potential escape, while opponents argue that most of the seized cars, money, real estate, or jewellery are not directly related to the cases being conducted. Seizing assets is most irritating to the main parties involved, that is, their owners.

Prosecutors seized assets worth tens of millions of pounds

Andrew Tate's legal troubles have been ongoing since the end of 2022. On 29 December, the influencer, along with his brother Tristan Tate, was arrested in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual offences. A few days later, prosecutors seized the brothers' assets and money, including assets and cars worth £32 million. Among the seized items was an orange Bugatti Chiron belonging to Andrew Tate.

Andrew Tate regained seized assets

On 1 October 2024, the District Court in Bucharest returned the seized assets to the brothers. Tate announced its success on platform X by writing: "The Bucharest Tribunal Court has just ruled to return my 40,000,000 dollars of assets due to a lack of evidence. All my super cars. Gold bars. $3,000,000 in cash. Everything." His brother Tristan also expressed his joy, writing: "The prosecutors may be lying, opportunistic thieves. But the judges have proven once again that justice exists here in Romania. All of my cars that have recently been seized from me will be returned in less than 24 hours. Credit to them on yet another good call. Over soon."

A spokesperson for Andrew Tate added in a conversation with "Dexerto":

"Although the allegations in the search warrant are not yet fully clarified, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering. The brothers’ legal team is present to ensure all formalities are carried out correctly."

Currently, there is an ongoing investigation into the Tate brothers regarding the exploitation of women. Thirty-five victims of the controversial siblings have come forward to the Romanian court.
