American military aid for Ukraine poised at European warehouses
CNN reported that a significant portion of the weapons destined for Ukraine is already in warehouses in Poland and Germany, citing an American source involved with the delivery of military aid. However, American officials have not confirmed this information.
CNN notes that military aid for Ukraine is just a few days away from getting the green light, but the question arises as to how quickly the necessary ammunition can reach the front lines.
Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder, speaking last week before the vote in the House of Representatives, said the Department of Defense is ready to respond quickly upon issuing any order.
"We have a very robust logistics network that enables us to move material very quickly; as we've done in the past, we can move within days," he said.
Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Mark Warner told CBS News that he hopes the equipment will be "in transit by the end of the week".
American weapons for Ukraine in Poland?
CNN reports that their American source familiar with the delivery of military aid to Ukraine claims that a significant part has already been preliminarily placed in warehouses in Germany and Poland. American television notes that this would shorten the time needed for transport.
According to CNN, Ukrainian authorities face a serious logistical challenge in receiving arms and equipment. It was emphasized that the current military advantage of 10 to 1 that Russia holds over Ukraine will not be quickly reduced.
According to sources, artillery shells will be among the first military materials to reach Ukrainian soldiers, repelling the invasion of Russian forces for more than two years.
USA aid for Ukraine. The House of Representatives decided
A nearly £50 billion aid package for Ukraine was supported by a vast majority of congressmen from both parties, with a vote of 311-112. All Democrats and a minority of Republicans (101 out of 213) voted for the bill.
A £6.5 billion aid package for Taiwan and strengthening the defence of the Indo-Pacific was also passed. Amendments that proposed removing financial assistance for Ukraine, among other things, were rejected.
The bill now goes to the Senate, where it is likely to be passed next week. As a Democratic Congress representative told PAP in an interview, the bill is expected to be adopted on Tuesday. However, it will all depend on procedural arrangements between the parties in the Senate.
