The Air India plane, flying from New York to Delhi, had to make an emergency landing in Moscow due to the sudden deterioration of a passenger's health.
According to information provided by the Russian news channel Mash, the incident occurred during the flight when a passenger, approximately in his 60s, felt unwell. The man needed immediate medical intervention.
Resuscitation on the plane. They had to land in Russia
The Air India crew promptly began providing medical assistance, initiating resuscitation efforts to stabilise the passenger's condition. Intensive rescue efforts continued for several hours, with the onboard staff doing everything possible to save the man's life. Sadly, despite their efforts, they were unable to save the 60-year-old passenger's life.
Consequently, the decision was made to make an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, where doctors were on-site. Upon landing, they confirmed the passenger's death, who held dual citizenship—both Indian and American.
While it is initially suspected that the cause of the man's death might have been a heart attack, the possibility of poisoning is also being considered, although this has not yet been confirmed. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances of this tragic incident.
The Mash channel emphasises the necessity for a thorough investigation into the cause of the passenger's death to rule out any ambiguities. Airport authorities and the airline are cooperating with law enforcement to resolve all aspects of this situation as quickly as possible.
