Air Canada runway scare ends safely at Halifax Airport
An Air Canada plane skidded off the runway at Halifax Stanfield Airport due to a landing gear malfunction, after which it partially caught fire. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly brought under control, and the passengers were safely evacuated.
The Air Canada aircraft, operated by PAL Airlines, skidded off the runway and partially caught fire at Halifax Stanfield Airport in Nova Scotia. The plane, which was flying from St. John’s to Halifax in Canada, encountered a landing gear issue that preliminary reports suggest was the main cause of the accident.
During the landing manoeuvre, a malfunction occurred, and the plane failed to remain on the runway, resulting in it skidding off to the side and partially catching fire. Thankfully, due to the prompt response of the emergency services, no one on board was harmed.
Videos from inside the plane have appeared online, showing the passengers' terror during the emergency landing. Although the incident sparked intense emotions among those on board and on the ground, there were no reported casualties.
Following the incident, Halifax Airport was temporarily closed, and emergency services acted immediately to secure the area and evacuate the passengers. According to "The Express Tribune" portal, the entire rescue operation was conducted smoothly, and passengers were quickly transported to safe locations.
