Aimee Osbourne: The reclusive daughter who defied a family's fame for normalcy

When the music career of Ozzy Osbourne began to decline, both he and his wife chose to invite MTV cameras into their home for 24/7 coverage. The only family member who objected to this idea was their 16-year-old daughter, Aimee.

"I wanted to give myself an opportunity to grow up normally. [...] The show worked wonders for the rest of my family, but it wasn't my cup of tea" she stated during an interview with New York's radio Q1043.

Mother's heartache

The teenager decided to move out. For Sharon Osbourne, a judge on "The X Factor" and "America's Got Talent," her daughter's decision was a tough pill to swallow.

"The presence of cameras in our house was driving her to distraction. She had no desire to share her private life with the public. She detested the show. Despite finding happiness after leaving home, her departure broke my heart," her mother revealed on "The Talk".

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree

Unlike her parents and siblings, Aimee has always been somewhat of a solitary figure.

"I used to spend hours in my room, chilling under a disco ball, while listening to my favourite musicians and crafting my own little world," she reminisced during a radio show.

Her sister, a stranger in her life

Aimee is a fan of artists like Kate Bush, Portishead, PJ Harvey, and Massive Attack. In 2010, she formed her own band, ARO, as the lead vocalist. She seldom sees her family, and she has the most strained relationship with her sister Kelly.

"We don't see each other, we don't communicate. We're just fundamentally different. She can't comprehend me, and I can't comprehend her," Aimee Osbourne explained.
