Yesterday, my son was already asking me if we would definitely have that ham. I don't buy it from the shop; it's lean, juicy, and very tasty. It's perfect for sandwiches and will last for the entire long weekend because it stays fresh for a long time.

Of course, the name "ham" here is a bit of a misnomer since ham is sourced from the hind part of the pig, where you find tender, juicy meat. But what do you call homemade chicken cold cuts? The simplest term... ham.

It's worth choosing poultry

Homemade poultry ham is made from chicken breast, which is one of the most delicious types of meat. One of its main advantages is its lightness. It doesn't burden the body and at the same time provides essential nutrients. Chicken is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and B vitamins, which impact the immune system and also support red blood cell production. Thanks to its unique properties, poultry meat is easy to digest and more readily absorbed by the body.

Ham the way you like it

Homemade poultry ham is much simpler to make than it might seem. Its advantage over shop-bought cold cuts is significant. Above all, it is light and delicate, without any unnecessary ingredients like preservatives or flavour enhancers. You can prepare it according to your own preferences.

Homemade Chicken Ham

Ingredients:

  • 450 grams chicken breast,
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika,
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram,
  • 1 teaspoon dried garlic,
  • half a teaspoon of gyros seasoning,
  • salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation method:

  1. Mix all the spices.
  2. Wash the meat, dry it, and rub it with the spices.
  3. Then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap.
  4. Place the prepared meat in a roasting bag. Tie it tightly with string.
  5. Transfer to a large pot and cover with cold water. When the water boils, reduce the heat and simmer for 35 minutes.
  6. After this time, turn off the heat but leave the meat covered for another 15 minutes.
  7. Then, take the chicken ham out onto a plate and unwrap it from the foil. Store the chicken ham in the refrigerator.
