A decade after Eurovision: The evolving image of Conchita Wurst

Thomas Neuwirth, also known as Conchita Wurst, is a singer and LGBTQ+ activist. Ten years ago, the world knew him as Conchita, the drag queen stage persona. Conchita Wurst impressed Eurovision viewers not only with her voice but also with her image. Long hair, dark facial hair, and striking makeup were the dominant features of her appearance.

Contrary to what his stage persona might suggest, Thomas Neuwirth is not a trans woman. The female form is only used on stage. His uniqueness and exceptional voice, presented in "Rise Like a Phoenix," secured him the 59th Eurovision Song Contest, whose finale took place in Copenhagen. A lot has changed since then, and Conchita Wurst has experimented with her image.

What does Conchita Wurst look like today?

Over 400,000 people follow Conchita Wurst on Instagram, where the singer shares her latest photos, including visual transformations. How does she look nearly a decade after the Eurovision win? Last year, she decided on a significant change - she cut the long hair that was her signature look.

According to Conchita Wurst's social media posts, her well-known hairstyle still accompanies her, but only on stage, probably in the form of a wig. The same goes for her heavy makeup and "feminine" attire. However, it's worth noting that without them—as Thomas—she would be hard to recognise on the street.
